Reassurance

"Ruhi!" His voice was getting louder with each passing second. I had thought he would give-up. He wasn't a type of guy that would run to pacify his girlfriend. He had never done it before. He was moreover a guy that would allow his ego to get a ride over himself.

I could feel curious orbs glancing around in astonishment. Maybe they had never seen the most famous and most charming individual of their university screaming a name of a girl.

"Are you ignoring him?" Rudr came and stood on my path, a smirk playing on his beautiful face. His hazel orbs were dancing in amusement. "If you don't mind, I can help you to piss him off." His brows raising in enthusiasm.

I wasn't planning to team up with Rudr. I knew if I encouraged Rudr it would lead into triggering Ehaan. I was mad at Ehaan but I would never cross those boundaries.

"No, thanks..." I masked a fake smile in his direction.

"Why you keep trying to grab her attention?" Mia almost sounded annoyed, her judgmental orbs fixed on me.

"The way you craves for her boyfriend attention." Rudr mocked but Mia ignored his comment. She found staring at me appealing than answering her brother.

"I just don't understand what guys find so attractive in her?" She was scanning me from top to toes as if determined to find her answers.

"Something that you can never process." His deep rough voice spoke from behind me. Indicating his presence. "Maybe she hold something special that makes you insecure about her presence." I could feel him smirking at annoyed Mia.

"Why would I be insecure of her?" Her orbs fuming in rage and disgust as she glanced at me. "None in the university could be insecure of her presence."

"But still they are!" Ehaan was staring at Mia. "They waste their precious minutes in humiliating her. If she wasn't that important, they might have ignored her presence."

"I wouldn't have noticed her presence if you were not shouting her name so loudly in the corridors." Mia passed a glare at Ehaan in annoyance. "What's the need to scream and grab everyone's attention?"

"Why? Does it makes you jealous?" Ehaan was teasing him, his hands wrapping around my shoulder. "Aren't you appreciating my attention on her?" He smirked while Mia's hard gaze locked on Ehaan's hand on my shoulder. I could feel her burning in rage and annoyance. She couldn't see me around Ehaan. The feeling she had for Ehaan was still alive. For a minute I felt bad for her. It wasn't easy to move on! Especially when you had loved someone, dearly.

She didn't provided with the answer as she forced her hazel orbs from my shoulder and walked out without sparing us a glance.

"You're playing with the fire, Ehaan." Rudr warned, his orbs were glaring at Ehaan. "Don't test her limits," his voice was filled with worry and concern. Rather than warning he was moreover concerned about the upcoming consequences.

"She is the one who forced me," Ehaan muttered. Their orbs were talking with eachother. Those tongues were sealed. What was going in between them? There was change in their behaviour towards eachother. I couldn't sense the harmful hate between them but something which I couldn't label.  "Tell her to keep away from Ruhi and I won't interrupt with her life."

"You shouldn't have brought her into the mess." Rudr commented glancing at me. "It's not going to be easy for her to survive."

"You have made it your purpose," Ehaan groaned. "To not make it easy for her."

"I had never disliked her," his orbs averted to me. Those hazel orbs gazing at me in admiration. "And I won't ever..." Ehaan's protective arms covered me at the statement. I could feel Ehaan's hard gaze fixed on him. "At the times you were going hard on her. I stayed by her side though she choose you yet..." He shrugged his shoulder chuckling at his faith. "Teenager Rudr was immature to hold a grudge against her for choosing you but I am not." He pressed, "that was the reason I had offered my friendship on her first day in the university."

"And she didn't accepted it so you asked your friend to force her." Ehaan growled like an angry lion. I shivered at the rage radiating from his body.

"I hadn't done it!" Rudr warned him. "I couldn't ever think such a thing. I have a sister, I could never do it with a girl." I could sense sincerity in his voice.

"You had done worse with Zara. Don't try to act as if you're sane."

"I might have emotionally or mentally tortured human but I can't think of raping a girl, abusing or harrassing her physically." Rudr was providing justification. "If you don't want to believe," he paused for a second. "I can't force you." He shook his head. "But know that I won't cause any harm to your angel not intentionally." With those words he walked off.

I stared at his retreating figure with numerous questions. He had never mistreated me in those years. He had showed his contempt about the fact that I choose Ehaan over him. And that was acceptable. They both thought they were superior over other. Rudr was wrong over various situation. He had allowed his hate to overpower his senses. He had worked as a trigger, a weapon to infuritate Ehaan. He had done worse with Zara. She was on the verge of mental breakdown.

If it wasn't for her strength, she might have lost it. I wasn't sure if he deserved forgiveness from them. He had done worse and I could understand their hostile behaviour towards him. But he wasn't my enemy and maybe if he was attempting to improve, I could offer him a chance.

"Don't let his words get in your head," Ehaan muttered as he dragged me from those preying orbs that was locked on us.

"I am not in a mood to deal with you." I muttered as I found him dragging me into the library. "You have more important things to tackle than this." I pointed out at the numerous books arranged in the racks before us.

"Its not important than you," he walked into the economic session. "Which is the most difficult category among those topics?" He inquired ignoring my glare on him.

"I would manage with my studies." I shrugged it off. I wasn't in a mood to talk to him. I needed space. I had to analyse the things troubling me. Why was I upset with him? His constant interruption would lead into more arguments. As I was mentally not in a position to sort things between us.

"I can help you," his voice was soft as if he was almost pleading with me.

"I don't need your help!" My voice came harsher than I intended. Numerous orbs were fixed on us. They were curious about things happening between us. "Please leave me alone, Ehaan." I was almost pleading with him. I didn't wanted to act rude with him. When I was angry, frustrated I voice out things that I would regret in future. I knew, how my system worked. I needed space to breathe when I was upset. His constant attempt to fix my mood wasn't working well with me.

"If I leave you alone, you will complain that I don't pacify you." He grunted in between his breath as his orbs were busy scanning various titles  of the book. I didn't adored the statement! His words conveyed he didn't mind that I was mad with him but his concern was my complaining spirit.

"Don't worry, I won't complain." I muttered grabbing a chair. As my orbs scanned on those curious orbs fixed on us. It might had been just a month and I was centre of attention for the entire University. I had anticipated it but yet it was difficult to accept. Those unwanted attention!

My orbs rested on Aditya walking into the library. His orbs sparkling in happiness as he glanced at me. His lips forming into a small smile but disappearing as he glanced at the person behind me. I could glance at the fear and uneasiness passing through his spirit.

During our first day in the university. He was so excited over the idea of meeting them. They were his idol but their behaviour towards him had forced him to be afraid of their existence. I blinked at him in assurance, forming a welcoming smile in his direction. He hesitated for a minute but walked in my direction. I wasn't letting their insecurities affect my friendship with Aditya.

Aditya came and stood infront of the table. His lips forming into a smile. "You have bunk classes," he teased in a playful manner. "What are you doing in the library?" He was avoiding glancing in Ehaan's direction.

"I was waiting for my tutor." I whispered as I heard a groan escaping from Ehaan but I ignored him. Aditya hesitated as he glanced at fuming Ehaan.

"Ohh..." He paused for a second, his orbs glancing around for an escape. "Did I disturbed?"

"No you didn't!" I yelled before Ehaan could mutter a word. "I was waiting for you. This is our daily hanging out session, right?" I was passing him my wildest smile.

Hanging out session? That wasn't exactly what it could be described as! Aditya's confused expression screamed volumes yet he didn't utter those words out loud. And I was thankful about it! His hesitating orbs moved to Ehaan before grabbing a chair opposite to mine.

"So, what are the topic for today?" I passed a warm smile in his direction, gesturing him to continue with the class.

He seemed unsure yet he glanced at the book in Ehaan's hand. "We had done that topic," he passed a glance at me. "Do you still have doubts on those concept?" I shook my head in a negative manner as an answer. I hadn't choose that topic, Ehaan had! He was adamant to be my tutor but I was stubborn not to listen to his demand.

"Oh..." Aditya keeped much of his doubts to himself. He never attempted to know each and every detail and that was an adorable trait of him. "So, we will start with the next topic." He muttered as he raised himself from the chair and walked towards the bookshelf.

"Why are you doing this?" I heard a small whisper from Ehaan. He was lossing his patience, his teeth gritting in frustration.

"I am not doing anything," I turned and glanced at his almost fuming dark brown orbs. He was holding back the fury emerging from him. "You should go and carry with your plans. I can manage myself. Just because I am in the university, it's not your duty to babysit me."

"I am not fucking on babysitting duty!" His jaw clenched, his voice loud enough to grab more audience. We heard a slight interpretation from the librarian before she shut her mouth glancing at Ehaan. His dark brown orbs were locked on me least bothered with the attention we were offered with. "I fucking care about you, Ruhi." His orbs slightly softened. "Why is it difficult for you to understand that I am not doing any duty?" He rubbed his forehead in exhaustion. "I can't simply go on with my day, knowing you're upset on me. That's spoils my mood! I simply can't concentrate," he shook his head as he was uttering those words loud and clear.

"I am not upset," I avoided eyecontact. "I just need some minutes of space. I have a life beyond you. It's not necessary that we keep revolving around one another." I was sounding annoyed, I was showering my frustration, my anger on him. "Please carry on with your day and allow me to carry on with mine." I heard footsteps and without uttering anything he walked out of the library in anger.

I could feel numerous orbs but later everyone got engrossed with their respective works. Aditya walked towards the table with numerous books. He didn't voice a word about the incident as we got engrossed in the studies.

I mostly enjoyed my study session with Aditya. Ehaan won't appreciate my statement but Aditya was a good company.

"This is cool!" I muttered as I stared at him in adoration. "You're genius!" I laughed as I glanced at his new defined method which was used to come to the conclusion. It was very easy compared to the method used on the book or given to us by professor. "How did you discovered this?" I asked in amazement.

"My brother is a scholar!" Aditya winked, a proud admiration covered his features. "He is genius! There is nothing that he can't solve." Aditya provided a nervous laugh, "I use his books so I am offered with solved problems." There was little hesitation as if that made him little but it didn't. I still had the same admiration for him.

"That's cool!" I offered him a reassuring smile. "So the talent is in your genes." I laughed as my comment and soon he jointed me in the laugh.

"But I am nothing compared to Ehaan." He muttered, "he had got exceptional skill. Anyone would die to learn from him. He was offering you help, why did you deny?" He inquired, his orbs staring at me in concern. "If you don't want to talk it's fine!"

"No!" I objected, "maybe it would be better to talk. I wasn't denying him not to teach me. I just wanted him away because I was mad at his behaviour of hiding things from me. Everyone accepts me knows about things happening in his life. That's so humiliating to discover things from his new friends. I feel as if I am least important to him."

"Quite understandable," Aditya nodded in understanding. Unlike my rest of the friends, he wasn't making me understand Ehaan's pov rather listening to my problems. "I might have felt the same!"

"Exactly!" I felt so seen and understood with his mere statement. I felt relieved that I was overthinking, overreacting. I wasn't allowing those emotions to have a troll over me.

"Why don't you discuss the matter with him? Tell him that you don't adore his habit of hiding things from you."

"That's not going to help. I had attempted on various occasions but he slide it off." I shook my head in disappointment. "Sometimes, I do really think he don't care. He is bored of me, I am unwanted."

"If that was the case," Aditya passed a teasing smile in my direction. "He won't be roaming around calling your name in the corridors. He won't be trying to pacify you. He doesn't seems a guy who give shit about anyone. Those words uttered by him was genuine. It just hard for him to express."

I know that! But I just don't know what I was expecting from him. He was very shut-down person. I had worked very hard to make him vocal. I understood his closed nature but why was it directed towards me and not towards his rest of the friends?

"Maybe there is something which don't allow him to share things with you." Aditya pointed out. "Something that comes constantly before him?"

"His fear!" I voiced out. He had the fear that I would judge him. I would hate him. He could bear the separation but won't be able to glance hatred in my orbs.

"Is his fear valid?" Aditya glanced at me in question.

"No!"

"Than its your responsibility to make it obvious to him. Not by words but my actions. Whenever you discover something about him, treat it in the manner that you don't trigger his fear. Slowly, smartly you need to prove him that his fear is invalid." Aditya passed a smile, "I know there is lots of work but relationship requires a lot of work. Especially if you decide to love a broken heart."

I was growing fond of the human with each passing second. "You remind me of Anuj." I passed him a smile. "He understands love the way you do," he beamed at my words.

"Aww... That's sweet! But I can't ever match to his aura. I hope everything between your friend group is sorted out?" He stared at me in curiosity.

"As far as I can see, nothing is sorted out!" I shook my head in displeasure. "It messed up! Adding a relationship to a friendship is a risky business."

"It surely, is!" Aditya nodded in approval. "It has the power to drift friends into two groups." Aditya shook his head at the thought as he offered a sarcastic laugh. "That's the reason we shouldn't add the element of relationship in friendship."

"But we don't do it on purpose." I felt the need to oppose his views. "Love doesn't comes out planned. It's happens when you least accepted it."

"But if you decided to bring the element of love in your friendship. You should be mature enough to handle the after effect of the broken love. Just because your relationship doesn't work out, you can't destroy the friendship." Aditya was voicing out facts. He looked so mature at the moment. "Rather than trying to find who is right or who is wrong. Just joint hands and make the friendship survive."

"It isn't that easy," I heard a familiar voice in protest. I turned to find Varun standing behind my chair. His orbs fixed on Aditya. "Healing from a breakup isn't easy!" Varun pointed out, "if you love someone, it's difficult to move on from life. It would be difficult to be friends with them. Those pieces can never be mend together."

"Maybe it will take time but eventually those wounds are healed. That's the sign of maturity, healing when you accept those pain, those past with open arms."

"You sound too mature for your age." Commented Varun as he grabbed a chair beside me. "I found you amusing," Aditya blushed a little at Varun's compliment. He wasn't good with compliments just like me! He offered a sheepish smile as a response to the compliment.

"I was here to take you back," Varun glanced at me. "But he doesn't seem that bad of a company." I smiled as Varun's slight acceptance to my friend.

"Where are the others?" I inquired in curiousness. How was Ehaan? Still mad at me?

"Hmm... Most of them in cafeteria," Varun nodded. "I had discovered the only thing that brings them together is you." He commented, his orbs staring at me with a hope. "Whenever it's about you they forget their difference and come forward."

"What are you trying to drive at?" I stared at Varun in confusion. I knew he was speaking the truth. I had seen it before but I can't do anything about it.

"Why don't you ask..." I interrupted Varun in the mid-sentence.

"It would be forcing them." I pointed out, "forcing would result into disaster. According to few, Aarav is at wrong while few support him. It won't only bring rift between Aarav and Zara but also among others due to their opinion."

"Sorry," Aditya interrupted. "I shouldn't interrupt but she is voicing out the truth." Aditya pointed out, "the only thing you can do is... To do nothing" He paused, "they are build in the foundation of love and care. They would find their way back to eachother."

"How can you be so confident about it?" Varun sounded curious.

"We had heard about their friendship from childhood. No one can match to the loyalty they share among themselves. This small conflicts won't be able to hold them away from eachother for long."

"But it won't be the same..." Varun sounded upset at the idea of it.

"Nothing stays the same, growth is inevitable." Aditya passed a smile at us. "Some things would change but those broken pieces will mend eventually."

•••

"He doesn't seem that bad of a guy," Varun commented as we were strolling in the corridors.

"It's high time that you all stop glancing at people as your enemy. Not everyone are going to be against you!" I shook my head at those foolish thoughts. "There is a life beyond you all. Trust me, you're not that important as it seems to be! People are least bothered. They have their own problems to tackle than keep planning tricks to defeat you or target you."

Varun had a smile playing on his lips at my outburst. "It's difficult to trust people when you're constantly been betrayed." He shook his head, his lips forming into a sad smile. "You're aware of our past. That past don't allow us to trust people and so we keep distance with them." He paused for a moment, his orbs scrolling around the corridors. "None of us is against you making friends. Rather everyone would be glad that you're getting comfortable in the university." He spared a glance at me, "they care about you. There is this constant fear that someone might harm you, take advantage of your innocence. You glance at people through the lenses of innocence and you're often discouraged when you don't find the kindness you offer to the world."

"I am innocent that doesn't mean I am foolish." I voiced out of opinion. "I am smart enough to know others intention. I am not that easy to be fooled!"

"You had been manipulated before," Varun commented. "You weren't fooled yet you had come in Rudr's words. You weren't able to fight against Pia. You're not made up for the life our presence for offers you with. That's makes us concern, worried." Varun kept voicing in his defence. "We aren't trying to control your life but trying to protect you."

"What if rather than protecting me, you help me to grow a tough skin? One like you? Than you won't have to keep worrying about me. The way I see none of you worrying about Zara."

Varun stared at me for a minute longer. "It can't be learned. It's the faith that teach you such lessons and I am glad that you didn't had to go through such a event. Your vulnerability, your fragile nature is a gift from the God. Don't think it's your weakness."

"I never considered it as weakness but you all are forcing me to believe it. Just because I don't act strong doesn't mean I am not." I was almost yelling at him.

"Stop torturing her, Varun." I heard Zara's emotionless voice as she walked towards us. "Rather than making situation favourable you're complicating it with your words." She shook her head in annoyance. "You males in general lack the skill of communication." She stood beside me, wrapping her arms into mine.

"I will take the lead from here." Zara commented as she shove Varun off with her head and dragged me forward. Silence prevailed among us for a moment before Zara interrupted the silence. "You feel left out and you didn't voice a word about it to us." I could hear disappointment in her voice. "I understand Samaira was a beautiful part of your life. Your childhood friend. The distance between you both would trouble you yet we are your friends as well. The connection between us isn't just that you're Ehaan's girlfriend."

I could hear sadness and disappointment in her voice. I couldn't depict it was for me or her. "I had my own issues," she shook her head. "I was engrossed with my troubles to notice your discomfort. I am sorry for not been the friend you needed on your initial days at the university."

"It's not your fault!" I exclaimed in rush. Why was she blaming herself? "I understand your situation. I would've acted in worse manner if I was you." I attempted to assure her. "I wouldn't be able to pull myself together, alone." It almost pains me to even imagine it. She was really fond of Aarav. I had seen the love in her orbs much before she confessed it to him. I wanted to tell her, advice her that they were allowing misunderstanding to destroy their beautiful relationship.

She wasn't in a mental frame to understand my advice. She would treat it as accusation. As if I was standing against her. I was against her! I couldn't allow such an idea to shape in her mind. I wasn't against any of them. I just wanted them to understand the misunderstanding emerging between them.

"Nothing of that sort is happening to you," Zara groaned at my choice of words. "I won't let that happen, I will always stand like a sheild around you." Her voice had the determination, the love and care she had towards me.

"Thank you," I felt guilty at the moment. I wasn't able to provide her with the same support, she didn't hesitate to offer me. Maybe I wasn't that good of friend.

"Just forget all the nonsense Varun offered you." Zara laughed, "he was trying to convince you that we still love you and you don't need to feel left out." I nodded in understanding. "Guys and their lack of communication skills." She muttered as her orbs scanned around the campus. We were almost out of the building.

Students were scattered around. They were busy talking among themselves. Laughing, enjoying their moments of fun among their friends. Until my orbs locked on a familiar guy. Aarav! What on the earth was he doing?
