Pia provided an hesitating smile as she gestured me to follow her. Ehaan had walked into the washroom, leaving only the option to joint them. We kept strolling in the hallway.
'Is she the one?'
'She is nothing like Ehaan's choice.'
'There are rumors that she was with Ehaan in the school.'
'They were couple from so long?'
It was humiliating to listen to such comments about me. Those remarks were filled with judgement. They used to comment of things they weren't aware of! I sighed attempting to ignore those hostile remark on me.
I felt a touch on my knuckles, I raised my orbs to the source. Pia passed a reassuring smile. "They just jealous." She commented, shaking her head in disbelief. "As Ehaan don't provide attention to them."
I stared at her in amazement. I had never thought she would attempt to reassure me. I had concluded that she despised my presence but her warm, reassuring smile was slightly changing my views about her.
"I don't know why Ehaan is dragging you into the hell." She shook her head in disbelief. "It's going to be difficult to cope with them." She sounded worried, I stared at her in concern. Cope with whom?
"About whom are you talking about?" I was getting anxious with each passing second. My heart was beating in nervousness. I hadn't liked the idea of participating in the dance. I had lots on my plate. I wasn't able to manage studies and my relationship. Adding dance to already loaded plate would end into disaster but Ehaan wasn't listening.
"Dance community," she shrugged her shoulder. "Haven't you heard about them?" Pia raised her brows in a question. I shook my head. None of them had mentioned about it to me.
"It's a group of best dancer our university is gifted with. Ehaan is one of them. They get the opportunity to decide a new candidate in our dance group." Pia was narrating about those incidents. "They can be cruel if they decide to be..." Her voice turning heavy. "I had met Ehaan due to the dance community." She expressed, "I love dance." Her lips widen in a beautiful smile. Pia seemed different. Different from being just Ehaan's friend. Her joy for dance was melting my heart because I had same craze for dance.
"You might be a really good dancer." I complimented but her smile faded away.
"I love dance but that doesn't mean I am good at it." She lowered her head in embarrassment. "I wanted to learn improve my skills but had never known people could be cruel." She offered a sad smile. Her hands patted my shoulder, "I just don't want you to undergo the humiliation I had to face. Humans aren't kind at times." I could hear the hardship she was trying to hide behind her encouraging smile. I was glancing at Pia in a different light.
She wasn't anylonger the girl I couldn't connect with. The lady that talked about cosmetics and branded clothes. Not the one whose interest was to look the prettiest or flirt with handsome boys. The girl standing before was broken from within but had the courage and strength to hide behind her glamorous nature.
"If you ever feel left out or drained do reach out to me." She passed a warm smile as she twisted the knob of the door before us. "Let's start with your new journey," she pushed open the door.
She walked in and I followed her inside. I stared at the huge room in admiration. The inner was painted in mix colours, radiating happiness. Quite contrary to the description Pia had provided me about the club. Numerous people were scattered around, having their bunch of group. They passed us a glance, their orbs coming and resting on me.
"What a pleasant surprise!" I heard a familiar overjoyed voice. Ved stepped towards us in excitement. "Aren't outsiders banned from entering the club?" His curious black orbs were fixed on me.
"She wants to participate," Pia answered on my behalf. She stood between me and Ved as if acting as a shield. I hadn't anticipated that she would act protective, I had assumed that she despised my presence.
"She needs to be auditioned before entering into the club." A horse feminine voice spoked from the background. Those clicking of the heels on the hard marble floor forced me to glance at the source. Mia's hazel blue orbs were scanning me from head to toe. "She isn't fit to be the member," she face turning into a disgust.
"We hadn't let started the audition." Rudr commented from the background, a smirk playing on his lips. "I never thought you would be fool enough to let the history repeat itself." He mocked while Mia and Ved jointed in the laugh.
"History isn't going to repeat itself," Ehaan commented, his arms wrapping around my shoulder. "She isn't alone and never will be." I could hear the unsaid warning hiding behind his tone.
Rudr stared at Ehaan, displeasure covering his figure. "If you were so concerned about her. You wouldn't have forced her into the mess." He rolled his orbs in annoyance. "Stop faking the concern and fooling another innocent soul."
"I had never fooled any innocent soul neither I am planning to. I am not interested in your opinions about me." Ehaan voice sounded frustrated. "And what's happening in her life shouldn't be any of your concern."
"I won't allow you to break hearts," Rudr was sounding stern. He took a step towards us. "I would interrupt because breaking fragile heart is a sin which I won't allow you to commit." His hazel blue orbs soften as he glanced at me. "I won't allow you to commit the same mistake twice. She isn't the toy to play with." He warned, his orbs averting towards Ehaan.
"You should concentrate on your life. You need the advice." Ehaan's orbs glancing at Mia. Voicing out things his tongue restricted. "It would be better if we don't push eachothers boundaries."
Mia kept a hand on Rudr shoulder as if telling him to back off. "Bro, Ehaan is speaking the truth. We have cooperated over the years and we will co-operate. Unity will allow us to flourish. Rivalry between the university isn't of help when we have to compete with others." At Mia's words there was loud cheers in support. Forcing Ehaan and Rudr to mask a smile at eachother.
I felt as if they were forced to keep those boundaries, forced to keep the unity to survive in the university. Not that I was complaining! Even if the harmony was fake, forced. It was better than rage, revenge, hate blossoming between them.
"Let's start with the audition," Mia's hard hazel blue orbs were mixed on me. "Audition are going to take place with proper procedure. I am not going to spare her as she is your girlfriend." Mia's tone turning dark as her determined orbs were rooted on me. "It would be unfair for the other candidates," she eyed a bunch of students waiting for their turn. Were they newbies like me? They had a smirk playing on their faces. Confidence radiating from their body. I didn't count them as nervous individual.
"I am not going to ask you to be partial towards her. I am aware of her strength and I want her to realise it as well." Ehaan's dark brown orbs were staring at me in confidence. "She is going to rock it." Only if I was as confident as him, life would be simple but unfortunately I wasn't.
"Hope she won't disappoint you," Mia commented as she passed a glare in my direction. Ehaan ignored his comment, Mia's stare fixed on me. "Just because she is your girlfriend. I am allowing her the first opportunity to prove, why she deserves to be the member of the club." Her hazel orbs sparkling in excitement. "Shall we grab our seats for the upcoming entertainment?" She voiced out, directing to the audience around her.
Everyone moved to their respective position. Rudr, Mia and two unknown figures grabbing their chair in the corner. Ehaan hesitated before passing a smile and moving to grab the vacant seat.
"Come and stand in front Ruhi." Rudr commanded, I lowered my head in nervousness following his orders.
"What will her challenges be?" One among them inquired.
"Something unique and interesting," comment Mia in anticipation. "Ehaan, you always comes up with creative ways. Why don't you suggest something innovative?" My hands were shivering in anticipation. How was I going to deal with the challenge? Why Ehaan was doing this? I know, he loved and cared about me but I wasn't in need of this.
Ehaan cleared his rough throat, an indicator that he was in deep thought. "She is his girlfriend, he would go soft over her." An unknown human spoke among them. His black orbs were planted on me. He found me interesting, his orbs screamed it out loud.
"He won't let his duty come over his emotions." Mia had confidence in Ehaan. Her gaze concentrated on him. "He is professional by nature." She smirked, her orbs sparkling in excitement. "He won't allow his personal life to interrupt, isn't it, Ehaan?" Her orbs staring at Ehaan as if challenging him.
Mia of JJD was different from Mia of Heaven's High. The lady before me seemed more collected, more calm, more determined. The way her hazel orbs stared at Ehaan, the way she interrogated. She no longer was the teenager that had crush on him. Though I doubted if she really had moved on from him but she no longer was a submissive type.
She wasn't scared or afraid of Ehaan. She didn't attempted to be polite or act in kindness. Her orbs were hard on him, her voice strong and she didn't hesitate to challenge him.
"I won't," Ehaan gritted his teeth in frustration. He was attempting hard to sound calm. "I know my boundaries." He grumbled as his orbs got locked on me. Those softness returning back to his dark brown orbs.
"So, is your mind up with some suggestions?" Mia wasn't let it to slide off.
"I have some if you're interested." Rudr interrupted getting annoyed with Mia. Surely, he was admiring his sister's attention fixed on Ehaan.
"Yeah, sure!" That unfamiliar figure answered on behalf of Rudr. "We have many other candidates. We can't waste our entire time on one." The lady sounded bored with the ongoing conversation.
"Why don't we ask her to compete with Pia?" Rudr orbs were sparkling in excitement as he glanced between me and Pia. "Pia is just starting as a dancer. It would be nice to see if she can match with her." He passed a curious gaze at his companion which came and rested on Ehaan. "What do you think about it? You have taught Pia. Would your girlfriend manage to defeat her?" He laughed at his statement. "I would use less strong word," he mumbled. "Would she be able to even match a bit of her?"
"Let her answer by those moves of her." Mia sounded excited. "Pia show what you have learn from your master." Pia nodded moving from her position near the wall. She passed a hesitating smile. "Don't need to go soft on her due to Ehaan. I am aware you're not fond of her presence so use the opportunity because girl, the feeling are mutual." I was taken aback with the hate Mia processed towards me.
"Grab your position!" She ordered, Pia listen to her command without wasting a second. I had prepared nothing in my head. What was I going to do? I enjoyed dance! I never took it as competition. Ehaan had taught me some basic skills but it would be nothing compared to Pia's professional ones. I was getting nervous, my hands were shivering, my heart beating loudly in anxiousness.
"Start the music!" Rudr commanded, the sweet melody started playing in the background. Pia started moving with the melody, her body was coordinating with her moves. She frowned on finding me rooted on spot but she continued.
Everything was blank! My brain wasn't cooperating with me. I attempted to move my hands, my legs but it seemed as if I was paralysed by the fear. The fear of getting judgement, rejected. I couldn't compete with them. I could never match to their level. I had given up before even trying. It was better than getting humiliated for my lack of dancing skills. If I didn't try, I won't fail!
I could hear cheers in her support. She had developed friends and fan base in the university. I was nothing compared to her. My orbs kept moving at each individual present in the room. The look of disgust, displeasure they were passing in my direction. Two unfamiliar figure on the chair was staring at me with curiosity while Rudr seemed a little disappointed. Maybe he hadn't thought I would be such a coward. Or maybe he was upset because he wasn't provided with an opportunity to humilate me.
Mia's hazel orbs were mocking at me, her lips formed into a smirk. She was enjoying the moment. She could see I had given up before even attempting. She was winning it. Until my orbs locked on the pair of dark brown orbs. Those orbs had soften and was staring at me in concern. That face devoid of emotions as if he was controlling himself from reacting on impulse. But those pair of chocolate brown orbs did had a calming effect on my beating anxious heart.
It held confidence, adoration, love in those pair of dark brown orbs. I sighed as if suddenly I felt exhausted and the urge to get wrap in his warm, protective arms grew. His lips forming into a sweet smile as his orbs gestured me to calm down. His lips moved in a manner as if he was uttering something. "Eyes..."
Eyes? What that means? Why would he? Suddenly our dance competition flashed in my brain. The words he had uttered on the stage.
"Look in my eyes and forget about the world."
How could I forget it? When I stared into his pair of beautiful orbs. I did forget the world! His presence provided me with confidence. I acted less about those judgemental orbs. Those insecurities fly high in the sky. I cared less about the opinions of others. His presence brought that safety, warmth with himself. I felt at home with him by my side.
I took a huge intake of breath, closed my orbs for a second. Allowing myself to calm down and listen to the music. I opened my orbs, a sweet smile playing on my lips. That music no longer felt horrible or threatening rather a sweet melody. My orbs locked on the pair of dark brown orbs. As I started moving on the rhythm. My mind had nothing planned, it was blank.
I had let go of the challenge, I wasn't competing with anyone. The idea of competition never worked on me. Moreover it left me paralysed, numb. Dance came as easily as breathing to me if I didn't allow it to scared me. When I enjoyed it! When I allowed my body to move on its tune rather than forcing it to act in a certain manner.
I kept moving, kept dancing. I felt as if I had transferred into a complete different world. A world that didn't judged me. A world that accepted my quirkness. Where I was wanted and admired. Dance made me loose myself but at the same time I found bits and pieces of myself. My legs moving on the rhythm, my orbs locked on the pair of dark brown orbs. A beautiful smile plastered on my face. I was enjoying it!
The music stopped bringing me back from my world of dream. I loved the world of dance. When I danced, I felt like I was the bird that was flying high in the sky. A bird that couldn't be caged or restricted from freedom.
Silence prevailed around before I heard cheers in support. People were screaming, showering comment but I couldn't depict for whom was it for? I shook my head as I passed a smile at Ehaan. His presence was the reason I could finish the challenge. I was bothering myself with the result. I had done my part, I had given my best.
Ehaan stood from his chair moving towards me. His orbs sparkling in admiration, a hint of smile covering his beautiful face. He came and stood in front of me. Just few inches away.
"I am proud of you," he whispered as he leaned towards my face and pressed a kiss on my forehead.
We heard some gasp and cheers in support of Ehaan's actions. I lowered my head in embarrassment. Finding it pleasing to avoid glancing at their judgemental, curious, teasing gaze.
"We still hadn't voiced our result," the lady sounded displeased. "I hadn't accepted that you would cross the line." Her large black orbs were planted on Ehaan. She seemed the most arrogant among the dance community leaders.
"Palak," Ehaan groaned in response. "I hadn't behaved unprofessional. If I had! She wouldn't be auditioned," I could hear fury in his tone. His frist clenched in annoyance. He had worked lot in managing his temper yet it would burst out if been triggered alot.
"You should be seated among us while the result are announced," the guy voiced his opinion. "We can't pass message to our candidate that we are been partial towards them." His words had a point but the way he was staring at me. I didn't adored his vibes.
"If you're talking to me," Ehaan gritted his teeth in frustration. "Eyes on me," I could feel him loosing his calm. I slowly reached to his knuckles, softly caressing it, attempting to erase the tension building within him.
His orbs darted to me for a second, softness returning back to the dark brown orbs. "I am not liking her presence," the lady glared in my direction. "She had brought negativity and arguments along with her. This club used to be peaceful place before her arrival."
"Because I was letting you people to bully others." Ehaan groaned in disappointment. "I had seen the way you treated this individuals." He pointed at the crowd circulated around us. "I won't allow the same treatment towards my girlfriend." His voice was firm and collected. His fingers interwinding with mine.
"If you don't want your girlfriend to be treated in the manner you shouldn't have brought her into the hell, Ehaan." Rudr commented, his orbs hard on him. "You're aware of its darkness yet you pulled her along with you. Now, you can't claim that she should be given special treatment. Rules are not going to be changed for her."
"Than I am going to be the change for her." Ehaan announced, few gasp left from the community leaders. They were staring at him with shock, surprise.
"That isn't how the community works." Palak argued, her black orbs staring at Ehaan with displeasure.
