He Kept It Hidden

"So, you're not coming to the party?" Niti sounded disappointed with the news.

"What am I hearing?" Tarun put his dramatic accent to make it more entertaining as he walked towards us with mini-bottles of juice. He had walked out of Ehaan's kitchen. We had gathered in his mansion. "And here I had planned our entire dancing session." He faked the sad face, making a smile cross my face.

"Finally, you hardly smile." He expressed his displeasure.

Only if he knew me! I smiled often, but things happening within me wasn't providing me with many chances. I was getting insecure and I couldn't stop myself. I knew I shouldn't doubt Ehaan's loyalty, but it wasn't that I didn't trust him. Rather, I was scared of losing him. I was scared that he would get bored and leave me behind. I felt that I wasn't worthy of his patience and care.

"You again spoiled her mood," Niti groaned at Tarun as she smiled at me. "Don't mind him, he is useless."

"Oh, hello!" Tarun was going to defend himself but Anuj jumped in.

"Stop torturing her with your faces," he muttered as he grabbed my wrist and pulled me from the couch. "And you better stop with your flirting, Mr..." He pointed a finger at Tarun. "You had seen how Mr. Possessive boyfriend react," and he offered me a wink while I glared at him.

"Yep," Niti paused for a second. "And the way she handled him. I had never seen someone so courageous to walk towards an angry plus hungry lion."

"So, maybe you have forgotten the incident when he was on the verge of ending in a fight with his opponent football player and I walked in?" I turned to find Pia, pressing a smile at us. "According to me," her orbs found mine. "It wasn't as huge as you make it sound."

"I can't help it! I love romantic stories!" Niti was least bothered with Pia pointing fault in her favorite at the moment- a love story. Pia rolled her eyes as Niti look the pillow in her lap so Pia could sit next to her. "You said you won't make it up," Niti muttered as she offered her a side hug.

"I had planned not to," Pia pulled from the hug as she shrugged her shoulder on finding Niti was waiting for her to elaborate. "Ehaan called me and you know I can't deny him." I felt a pain in my chest. What was wrong with me, why was I turning so insecure?

"Who can know it better than me?" Niti rolled her eyes as she took a sip from the bottle.

"Why are you standing there Ruhi?" Pia asked having a sweet smile. "I didn't get a chance to have a proper conversation with you."

"You can have a conversation with her any other time, I need her at the moment," Anuj informed them before dragging me away along with him towards the kitchen.

"What's the matter?" I could sense that he was stressed or he could never shut his mouth for a second.

"How you could hide such a thing from us?" He muttered as we entered the kitchen. To my surprise rest of them had gathered in the room. Aarav was glaring in my direction standing behind the counter, his orbs soon found their way to Zara. Zara stared at me with a guilty look.

"I am sorry," she muttered earning a growl from Aarav.

Varun was leaning on the wall, his arms folded around his chest. His face showed that he was disappointed with me as well. What had I done? And with that thought, I glanced at Ehaan who was drinking beer from the glass. I groaned as I walked towards him.

"We had decided you were cutting on your consumption on this dangerous liquid." I stood before him; my arms folded around my chest while my orbs pleading him to listen.

"Rudr came in search of you." He gritted his teeth as he kept the glass back on the counter beside him. My orbs enlarged as I glance at Zara for confirmation. "Don't look at her," he growled.

"Ehaan," he grabbed my elbow.

"Don't you trust me?"

"What?" I stared at him startled.

"You can have a conversation about it with Zara but not me." He sounded displeased as my hands reached to cup his face. "I don't want this," he attempted to shove my hands away. "I had mentioned before that he is dangerous. You saw with your eyes how his sister was after you and yet you wanted to keep things hidden from me?"

"Because it isn't how you think it is." I forced him to stare me into my eyes. "I wasn't planning to be friends with him. I kept it hidden because you would have reacted on impulse and I wanted to avoid it." He diverted his orbs, "do you think there will be any reason beyond that?"

"What if he had harmed you?" He whispered it so softly that a smile spread on my lips. How come he cared so much about me?

"He won't, he had faced the consequence before." I smiled at him.

"And he faced the consequence again as well," Zara informed.

"Zara!" Anuj scolded, "Don't!"

"You can't hide it from her," Zara argued back, Aarav grabbed her elbow. "She deserves to know."

"What are you talking about?" I looked in between them. "It making me scared, what consequences?"

"I kicked him and they had thrown me out of the college for a week." I stared at Ehaan.

"You... can't!" I groaned, rubbing my face in frustration. "I had requested you, Ehaan. How can you lose your temper like that?"

"I didn't lose my temper without a reason. You were the one who heard him say that, he is going to use you. He is going to use my weakness to break me and to break me, he needs to break you. And I do promise you," he clenched his fist. "I won't ever let him succeed in his mission."

"It was years back, Ehaan." I shook my head. "We all have moved on. Rudr hadn't contacted you for the past few years. Everyone had left their school life behind. We are no longer teenagers we are adults."

"She isn't even aware of those messages?" Zara sounded stunned. "No wonder, she thought Rudr is changed," Zara growled while Aarav muttered something in her ears.

"Zara, are you by any chance trying to add fuel to the fire?" Ehaan growled.

"You're doing that work for yourself. You have the decency to be mad at her because she kept a small thing hidden from you. What about all those secrets that you kept hidden from her in past? At least let her be aware of people that are against you. You can't keep screaming that she acts careless when she is least aware of what is making you so stressed." Zara shook her head.

"Zara, just stop it. Today is not the day."

"It is, Anuj." Zara sounded furious, "It's high time that you people work on yourself if you want your relationship to work. Then don't blame the girls if they walk away having enough of your issues." Her orbs moved from Varun to Ehaan and then rested on Aarav.

"Do you want to bring us in this?" Aarav sounded annoyed.

"I didn't mention a word about us, Aarav. But it will be high time that you all deal with your inner demon if you want it to work." She muttered those words as she walked out of the kitchen.

"She has gone nuts," Aarav grumbled as he massaged his forehead in exhaustion. "What?" He groaned on finding Anuj's orbs fixed on him.

"I just hope you have not cheated on her." Anuj orbs were suspiciously staring at Aarav.

"Have you lost your mind?" Aarav growled and was going to jump on Anuj, but Varun held him back.

"Take it easy, man," Varun muttered, patting Aarav's shoulder as he let him go on seeing that Aarav had calmed a little.

"Didn't you hear him?" Aarav pointed a finger at Anuj. "The one who had never got into a relationship due to being a coward has the authority to point a finger at me."

"Your violent behaviour is just confirming my doubt." And that was a punch to Aarav's face as he jumped on him and started showering punches on Anuj. Ehaan and Varun pulled them away from one another while I was appalled by the things happening before my orbs. What was wrong? I had never seen them fighting like this. They behaved as if they were thirsty for each other blood.

"What was the need to punch him back?" I scowled at Anuj as I applied ointment on his swollen cheek.

"He was at fault and he had the decency to knock me down on the floor." He growled like an angry lion.

"How can you be so sure about it?"

"Because if it was something mere, Zara would have never brought it up. Had you ever seen them quarrelling in front of us? They always kept it among them. They never allowed their fights to come between our friendship. If she mentioned something in such a dense situation, it meant something."

"You need to talk with her if that's the matter." I expressed my concern. "I still believe she might have mistaken it or we are misinterpreting it."

"I wish the same," Anuj sounded lost. "But for now you have to sort things between you and Ehaan."

"It's not only about me and Ehaan but also me and you." I glared at him as I threw the cotton in the dustbin. "You also kept it hidden from me. You always value his words over me."

"Because he has a reason behind his actions."

"Oh! Please," I rolled my eyes at her. "You're partial, your priority is him." I groaned as I folded my arms around my chest. "You keep faking the love towards me because if you ever have to choose it will always be him."

"I won't ever have to choose between you two." He stood from the bed as he approached me. "You both aren't separate but a part of one another." He smiled at me as he pressed a kiss on my forehead. "Never let these foolish arguments get between your beautiful bond. I don't have to mention it to you, you are aware, you are world to him. If he acted in a certain way, it was his fear, having control over him. He can't see you hurt."

"But at least he can stop hiding things from me."

"For that, you will have to talk with him. I can't force him to change his ways but maybe you can." He smiled at me as he walked away. I sighed as I walked out of the room towards the balcony in search of fresh air.

I adored nights, I glanced at the cell in my hand. It was eight, my parents might have returned from the office. I dialled Mom's number.

"Hello!"

"I am aware that you're at Ehaan's place and you're going to stay there for the night."

I shook my head, "And let me guess this was informed by your favourite son."

"Obviously, now don't get jealous of my son." I rolled my eyes while she giggled at her own statement. "He sounded off, is he fine?" I smiled at her concern, no wonder Ehaan was closer to my mom than his.

"You're aware he is mostly off."

Suddenly I felt an arm wrapped around my stomach as a familiar scent reached my nostrils. His chin rested on my shoulder as he pressed a kiss on my cheek. "Who is it?" He inquired as his exhausted orbs met mine.

"Mom..." I muttered and a smile masked his drained face. "Want to talk?" He shook his head as he nuzzled his face in the crook of my neck. His hand reached to untie my ponytail and allowed my hair to flow down my shoulder.

"Ehaan is there?" Mom inquired.

"Hmm..."

"Be there for him, he needs you." With those words, she hanged the call.

"You have stolen my mom from me," I grumbled as he turned me to face him.

He chuckled, "Are you mad at me for that?"

"Shouldn't I be?" I inquired wrapping my arms around his neck. "I have many more reasons to be mad at you."

"For god's sake, don't bring the idiotic moron between us." He growled, and I glared at him.

"You need to stop acting like that," I shook my head as I rested my head on his chest. "What was the need to beat him? How is Aunty going to react upon getting the news? She will fume in anger."

"That's the reason I wanted you by my side." He growled. "I have already deal a lot today and if I came across her. I won't have control over my tongue or my actions."

"You're not going to do anything." I huffed in annoyance. "Mr Ehaan Kashyap, you better have control over your anger."

"I just need you beside me to have control over it." He confessed, pressing a kiss on my forehead. I blushed at his words.

"You are aware right that I am still mad at you?" I muttered as I took a spoon of noodles specially prepared by Mr Ehaan Kashyap. He rolled his orbs at my words as his finger moved towards my lip wiping off something.

"Can't for once you take my anger seriously?" I whined seeing him least bothered by my revelation. Shouldn't he be pacifying me? Justifying his actions? He had no problem doing it for that Pia, so why was I the odd one out?

"Eat," he muttered pushing the bowl further towards me.

"Ehaan," I groaned on finding his orbs least interested in my conversation.

"Ruhi, not today, we will deal with your tantrum tomorrow." His words came harsher than intended I could glimpse in his stunned orbs as he rolled those words out.

I lowered my gaze concentrating on the bowl before me. He called me twice but I concentrated on finishing the noodles and getting as far away from him as possible. If he was intending to ignore me why he asked me to stay back? I pushed those emerging tears back. Nothing was going to be the same. I was fooling myself, we were growing up and so we were growing apart. The thought brought so much pain with it. I wished I could hold on to them, to people that made me feel so special yet I was aware it was impossible.

Mom was correct everything is temporary. Nothing is permanent! Maybe like Varun and Samaira, we were growing apart, our bond was fading away. There was nothing wrong with it, people lose connection yet it pains no matter what.

I got into one of the guest rooms, it was my favourite room in the mansion. Ehaan never allowed to change the interior of his room, it was a mixture of grey and black as if someone had haunted it. I loved colours so he provided me with this room. He said I could destroy it but to stay away from his.

From that moment this room had being my room. Whenever we had a night-out, Samaira and I stayed in this room. Samaira I missed her so much! I reached for my phone and dialled her number. She picked it up on the second ring.

"Hello!" She sounded so excited unlike me who was dying from within.

"I miss you," I muttered pouting to myself.

"Aww... I miss you, too." She screamed due to the loud music playing in the background.

"Are you partying?" I felt a peg of envy. Only if I had opted for university out of the town, I would be able to party as well, away from Ehaan's over-protective orbs.

"You know, what they did with me?" I groaned, narrating the entire incident. "Who does that? They are allowed to party but I am banned. Why? I had turned adult as well."

"Trust me, Ru..." Samaira grunted, "these parties are not at all fun. I was dying of boredom when I received your call. What fun is there dancing with complete strangers? They aren't even playing a single Bollywood song man. I am done with this institute. The students over here are hell bound to showcase they are cool by forgetting Hindi and even if someone speaks it, they display they had just landed from America and had never uttered a single Hindi word. I miss my home." She cried making me giggle.

"Your punishment for leaving me alone with those stupid creatures."

"Come on! At least you have them for your moral support. I have none," those words ached my heart.

"I am always there, Sammy..." my words choked as a drop of tear rolled down my cheek.

"You and I know, you can't be there for me." She muttered softly, "I don't want to be an emotional mess after applying so much makeup. I will talk to you later."

"Wait!" I objected, "Can you tell me the reason behind your breakup?"

"Ru, I had said I don't want to talk about it."

"I share every single detail about my life with you, Sammy. You can't share such an important thing. At least your reason might stop me from hoping that you both get together."

There was silence from her side, "it wasn't I who break it up. He wanted it and if you're so adamant to know the answer you can ask him. After all, he is a good friend of yours." She muttered as she hangs the call.

She was somewhere displeased that I was still in contact with him even after their breakup. She was expecting something from me that I could never offer her. I couldn't point out that she was wrong because she would have done the same for me in a nano-second. For her, I was her priority, she kept me above Varun and she had proved it to me on a constant basis but for me it was different.

Samaira was my bestfriend and none could replace her in my life but I couldn't leave others for her. I would support her decision but I couldn't act the way she wanted me to.Her enemies couldn't be my enemies because they were my friends and somewhere become a part of my life. I couldn't leave them behind for Samaira, not when she was adamant not to even offer me with the reasoning.
